OneKC WIRED — Resources

Reports, studies and articles related to the goals of OneKC WIRED and our partners.

Life Sciences Industry Census

This census provides an in-depth view of the region's life sciences companies, including employment trends.

For the purpose of this report, "life sciences companies" are defined as those that engage in research and development activities within life sciences (the study of the biology of plants, animals, or humans) or directly support research and development activities within life sciences.

Industry Profile - OneKC WIRED Region

This profile was jointly developed by the Missouri Economic Research and Information Center and the Kansas Department of Commerce's Division of Workforce Development.

This marks the first time information of this nature has been exchanged by both states.

The report will assist KC-area leaders in gaining a better understanding of the region's economy and provide a benchmark for many of the One KC WIRED initiatives.

Entrepreneurship and Urban Success
A report from the Kauffman Foundation that provides a roadmap for regional economies to grow through the development of new firms rather than competing for existing ones.
Science and Engineering Indicators 2008

This biennial report from the National Science Board  raises critical questions about the future international competitiveness of the U.S. high-tech industry.

Although there has been some growth in achievement—primarily in math—performance gaps have widened based on race/ethnicity, financial status and maternal educational attainment.

A complete copy of the report is available from the National Science Board.

Troubled Times Toolkit for Bioscience Companies
This toolkit, created by BioNJ, is designed to provide New Jersey's bioscience companies with strategies for weathering and succeeding where others may fail during the current economic crisis.
